Compatibilité chimique
Un joint torique ne meurt presque jamais d'usure mécanique. Il meurt du fluide qu'il côtoie : il gonfle, il durcit, il se fissure. Choisir la matière d'après le produit en contact est donc plus sûr que de la choisir d'après la température.
Les notes suivent la table de référence utilisée par les bureaux d'études : 1 excellente tenue, 2 bonne, 3 douteuse, 4 déconseillée. Elles restent indicatives — un essai dans les conditions réelles reste la seule certitude.
